PILANESBERG NATIONAL PARK TOUR

The Apartheid Museum, the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid. 

An architectural consortium, comprising several leading architectural firms, conceptualised the design of the building on a seven-hectare stand. The museum is a superb example of design, space and landscape offering the international community a unique South African experience. 

The exhibits have been assembled and organised by a multi-disciplinary team of curators, filmmakers, historians and designers. 

We pass by Soccer City the amazing football Calabash style stadium. We visit this large hostel nearby which has been transformed from migrant labour to informal family accommodation.  Baragwanath Taxi & Hospital – Two cooling towers.  Drive via Kliptown to Walter Sisulu square, Regina Mundi Church (drive by only no entrance), and Orlando West, pass Winnie Mandela’s residence, Vilakazi Street where two Nobel Prize winners lived, Nelson Mandela family residence, neighbouring Orlando West and the Hector Peterson Memorial, the site of where the student uprisings of ‘76 began.
